Hiphop free essay sample

The Insemination of Hip-Hop-Discrimination in Education, Jason Honing talked about his personal experience as an African American student. As a senior in college he transferred to University of Delaware. Here, he felt abandoned and out of character. Holman felt that people, Including the professors at university of Delaware, judged him of his dark skin and dreaded hair. Though the teachers thought he was some hip-hop criminal who is an unmotivated student, in which is not the case.Hip-hop has been accused of elevating violence, misogyny and hyper sexuality. Such controversial disputes over systems of perception can be boiled down to a simple case of wrong versus right. Instead, they are complex and multi- layered, and must take into account the larger cultural context. The term hip hop has been misrepresented in the media, which has tainted the reputation of its sub- cultures to the extent at which the majority generalizes hip hop to a negative image. The reason to this Is because the media chooses to focus on these negative aspects, grading the culture of Hip Hop from the different types of media (T. V. Shows, radio, music, newspapers, etc. ) the messages that the society convey expanded and are exposed throughout the world. But exactly what is Hip Hop? Hip hop takes on many definitions. It can be used define a person or describe a person. However, It Is often assumed with the word rap the music genre. Sometimes it is used to describe attires, language, attitude, and morals. To sum it up, Hip hop is more than Just music, it is a culture. It all started with Latin and African-American youths from Bronx, New York who were graffiti artists, break-dancers, turntables, and emcees. (Fresh In HIP Hop, Nelson George) the main elements of HIP hop. As these components became more and more known in New York, the term hip hop defined the overall culture. Although, the word hip-hop did not yet exist until a legendary DC have invented it a few years later, when an already grown-up culture needed some overall title (heliports. Mom) On August 1 1, 1973 DC Cool Here, a building resident, was entertaining at his sisters back-to-school party, and tried something new on he turntable: he extended an instrumental beat (breaking or scratching) to let people dance longer (break dancing) and began Miming (rapping) during the extended breakfasting. (PBS. Org) This, believed. Marked the birth of hip hop. Not only did the music influence the old generations, but it led to entire cultural movement. Beat boxing was also a hip-hop movement that broke from the machine- oriented Ads, replicating their sounds and breaks with the human vocal apparatus. (weeklies. Org). Such element was stemmed from early drum machines that were also referred as beat boxes. Eventually this developed into a more complex art form including the human vocal system mimicking even the most complex of instruments and often even layering beats over one another by using a form of overtone Along with the musical scene of hip-hop, the culture 1 OFF Bronx, along with the music of hip-hop, and today it is known as Bobbing. Breakfasting is the style of dancing that takes strength and dynamic movement of the body. (Foundation, Joseph G. Schools) Often, breakfasting is matched with the precise of beats played by Ads or beat boxers. What gives people hype is its battle armor. Various competitors face off by presenting their skills and show each other they are worth being the winner. Graffiti art is in many ways viewed as the visual manifestation of hip-hop, in the same way breakfasting can be viewed as its physical manifestation. Graffiti also became an important foundation of the hip-hop scene as well. It gave the world a visual-stimulating way to view the culture. This element was widely spread in the United States among activists and gangs during the sass. (Graffiti world, Nicholas Gang) Eventually Hip-hop culture took hold of it ND redefined it to create a visual characteristic style. It is very common to see graffiti writings in bubble letters and wild style of writing. Misogyny is very dominant in the Hip hop culture. For women, specifically African American women, misogyny is a common stereotype. Some people blame such controversy on sexist music videos for taking a view of women of color thats not very different from the views a slaveholder back in the day. Women in rap videos are placed in positions of sexual ways to their male counterparts.Still today, female rap artists use their music to show their state f opposition to hip hop misogyny that are expressed with lyrics, favoring women. People should value fighting misogyny and violence against women because it is associated with racism and inequalities. People often do not understand that African American women themselves are so victimized. It is obvious that the Hip-Hop community specifically, and the African America community, lacks the desire to see the world through the lens of the ghetto queens. Even the most inspiring study shown in Hip-Hop has often ignored the voice of its female artists. Black womens beech and expressive culture have been limited in the public sphere due in part to circumstances Such as maintaining community, promoting Black manhood at the expense of black womanhood, and constantly vindicating Black womanhood against misrepresentation. (Thats the Joint! The Hip-Hop Studies Reader, Neal Murray) For centuries, the experiences of the Black female have been pushed aside, often to boost up a mans ego. No one can deny that Hip Hop music has a large amount of violent previews, lyrics, and character. Many songs are about men killing other young men.A large number of the music videos show the artist as someone that is involved in war instead of a musician. This type of imagery tend have a very destructive effect on the mind of a child who is unable to differentiate between what is supposed to be entertainment what is reality. As a result, children may try to handle real life situations with make believe ideas from what they perceive. Once again the question must be asked is Hip Hop the blame for this. The artists must take responsibility for the content of their lyrics. However they are not the sole blame for the Moline that exists in the Hip Hop community. To clarify, there is not one specific cause for the violence in Hip Hop. The social and economic conditions that many Hip Hop artists are exposed to during the formative years of their childhood are violent. The current state of Americas international affairs and foreign policy are also violent. Thus, Hip Hop is only a reflection of the violence it is surrounded by. (news. Infusion. Org). What on what is considered negative Hip Hop, the media should give more attention to the positive and progressive Hip Hop artists that promote community development and ace. Though, why is it important to know Hip Hop?Most people look at Hip Hop as music where a person is beat boxing a stage or battling through their passion in dance. But why is it important to know Hip Hop or to even be associated with Hip Hop? Most of time, people will notice that most knowledge in the world tries to either dismiss human suffering in a logical sense. (Dave. Com) Hip Hop is at the highlight of it. Not only does knowing Hip Hop relieve human suffering, but knowing it or having the sight and awareness that Hip Hop has, gives you the ability to predict hats going to happen in the inner cities before it even happens. The media transmits cultural identity and the negative representation has a direct impact not only on the overall public perception but it also impacts self-image of the culture as well This has dangerous implications for the hip hop generation in the formation of their self-image. To prevent the negative feedbacks of the media, writers should look out for the way their lyrics or any of their frameworks can be perceive to their unintended audience. There are a numerous amount reasons why these types lenience, for example, can occur at any site since it is not always because the fans or artists.

Villain, Where Art Thou Essays - Characters In Romeo And Juliet

Villain, Where art thou? Ladies and Gentleman of the jury there is not a villain in the play, "Romeo and Juliet." As Northrop Frye states in his review, ". . . in this play there doesn't seem to be the clearly marked villain that we find in so many tragedies." (Frye 28) This paper presents the facts that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Frye's assertion is correct because the definition of a villain is a wicked or vile person. Mercutio, the nurse, Tybalt, and Romeo like a red herring seem like villains and could trick careless readers into believing that they are villains. Mercutio's wit overshadows his violent side. "O calm, dishonorable, vile submission! Alla stoca carries it away. Tybalt, you ratcatcher, will you walk?" (Shakespeare Act 3. Sc. 1. Ln. 74-76) This quote shows that Mercutio becomes so disgusted with Romeo that he challenges Tybalt in a duel. A villain acts with wickedness, Mercutio however, acts with honor because he would rather die then disgrace the Montague name. The nurse, can be thought of as Juliet's evil conscious tempting her as can be seen in this quote. The nurse says, ". . . I think it best you married with the County. O, he's a lovely gentleman! Romeo's a dishclout to him." (Shakespeare Act 3 sc. 5. Ln. 230-232) This quote shows the immorality and bad judgement the nurse uses to tell Juliet to forget her present husband and get married again. One has to remember though, that the nurse is of a lower social class and she thinks she has Juliet best Sayer 2 interest in mind. Therefore, Mercutio and the nurse are not villains and the examination moves to Tybalt. Tybalt while having problems is a genuinely good man. Tybalt writes a letter to Romeo challenging him in a fight, because Romeo came uninvited to the Capulet party. This action shows Tybalt's hatred for all Montagues. The fact that he thinks Romeo should die for crashing a party is extreme. Tybalt should have listened to his uncle and forgotten about the party altogether, however, he grew up probably seeing events like this happening so responds in kind. "What, drawn and talk of peace? I hate the word As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee. Have at thee, coward!" (Shakespeare Act 1 sc.1. Ln. 71-73) Tybalt is a hardened warrior and what he does best is fight. This is not villainous, since he grew up fighting, and he does it for honor. The final analysis has to be of Romeo as he kills two people and then takes his own life. Is the hero also a villain; no. Romeo kills Tybalt. Romeo is so filled with rage because of Mercutio's death that he does anything to kill Tybalt. One has to point out though that it is Tybalt who finds Romeo and starts fighting again. Romeo also kills Paris. Yes, this a violent crime but in no way is it pre meditated or even wanted. Romeo is seeking his "dead" wife Juliet at the tomb, when Paris appears. Romeo also gives Paris a warning and tells him to leave. Examination is complete. There is nothing left to do but rest the case because it has been proven that there is no villain in this play. Even though Mercutio, the nurse, Tybalt, and Romeo might seem like villains they are not. Some might say the feud is the villain and this is almost true because it lives off death and hurts everything and everyone. The only problem is that the feud is not a person. The Montagues and Capulets can end the feud any time they are willing to put there differences aside.

Cadburys Business Strategy in change management Category Simplicity The focus on category simplicity and scale to help revenue growth is managed under the structure of managing each confectionary category on international basis. Cadbury focus on resources in generous markets on each confectionary product which innovative products are introduced first. The strategy is chosen on changing innovation methods from smaller advantage innovations to larger advantage innovations which can deliver a competitive advantage. For this kind of innovations increased resources are applied to attain the result. The focus on consumer preference and products which consumers more like will be put as drive advantage products. These products will increase trade volume on key markets. Rationalisation will be taken for smaller products with less than 5 % market share in individual markets. This rationalisation process were implemented in a preferred time plan. The growth of focus brands mainly will be accounted to 50 % confectionary revenue. The strongest potential brands like Dairy milk, Trident, Halls may five more focus in marketing level. The rest of the main brands crà ¨me egg, Hollywood, Dentyne, Clorets are promoted widely in Emerging markets. The focuses on markets are also considered per scale of growth. Major market share countries like US, UK, Mexico, Japan, Turkey and France will be accelerated with gum products and increase the market strength. Elaboration opportunities in remaining countries like South Africa and Australia are clustered around regional offices to lead markets into affinity markets. The re-launching of Wispa with wispa Gold along with old brand is planned. The production unit at Bourneville will manufacture this new product suffixing less market share products. New variants of Tridents gums are planned to release in upcoming year , innovation activities are almost finished for these products . Release formalities are on the vein. The opportunity through National confectionary .co to enter small variety foods will be utilised. These small variety goods will help to strengthen new categories of confectionary goods. The market domination in three confectionary categories is revived along with pull out strategy for low market share less profit brands. The market potential will be individually realised and put up new products which were not yet released to those markets. Customer partnership programs Customer partnership programs are planned to solve confectionary marketing issues. Through the seven leading business units and three trade channels Cadbury planned to make unique place in customer service to pull up market position. The top retailers are motivated for pumping market oriented products in subsidiary markets. These markets already got strong confectionary positions for Cadbury. Expanding the platforms to strengthen the partnership and enhancing acquisition operations are planned. The enhancement of leveraging and capabilities in Europe is under reorganisation process. The centralised option for decision making will be adapted based on countries and elabororate brand management. The closure programs of manufacturing units as a part of cost reduction will undergo in coming years. The manufacturing units of acquired organisations are mostly come under this section. The aim of improving the operating margin performance is the key in upcoming markets like Nigeria, china and Russia. The focus on strengthening resources availability to Britain and Ireland is inevitably changed in coming years. New IT system implementation will be implemented by the end of 2010. Category led Business Focussing the operations on profitable opportunities than less profit events. The justification and effective usage of scrace resources are managed in well manner. Improving the working capital of business operation is another area of change. The product rationalisation programmed will be managed with committee to get it for appropriate diminishing products. Change can be basically defined as the simplified, organised and systematic application of knowledge, tools and resources that helps the organisations with key ideas and processes to achieve their basic business strategy. If the things that are going on in the company are made to go ahead then there will be no future developments in the company and the organisation after a certain stage will definitely fail. The management of change is not an easy process and needs to be properly supervised. Managing the change effectively will help in a proper control and also accelerate the change in a proper way and help in the future achievements. There are many studies that study the other aspect of the management and that are the human side of the subject. People do not accept change in a positive way and it is more seen when it is when related to the culture and the tradition of the people. In case of Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Limited (NMUK) they should be evaluating the risks that should be covering the current situation in order that a successful change management process is amplified. Figure Change Management Model Identify the Change Prepare to Change Sponsor Target Change Agent Culture History Resistance Current Desired Implement the Change Monitor the Change Delta Plan the Change Communication As per the study of Cole (1997) it can be said that in any particular organisation at a given point of time there will be a number of factors that will act as a driving force and others will be acting as a restraining force. The force field model is as summarised as below These days there has been a clear showdown in the production and the improvement and also development in all areas of the manufacturing. It is more than evident in the field of automobiles where the recession has played a major role and also it has affected a lot in these circumstances. The use of the solutions given by the company has helped a lot in the reduction of the cost of production and has been able to generate some ample revenue for the company. The change in the organisation has to be kept in mind the different processes of change and also the different modern technology that will help in the success and growth of the company. The effectiveness and the efficiency of the system for which the company has been employed will help them in each and every situation and also help in the reducing of the mistakes and reduction of the defects of the company. It also helps them with the solutions and the full documentation of the provision of the access for the conservation and the stability of the information to include the best practices in the organisation. The system will help the customers access to the most important data that they require and that too in a very period of time which will help in the reduction of the costs and help in the reduction of the expensive change in the engineering processes. The most important steps which will help in the control of the change management process and also to implement it without undergoing any other failures which will hamper the progress of the successful implementation of the system are The managers and the in charge personnel of the department should be clarified in the idea of the change management and should be cleared in their minds about the change in the process that is being going on. The staff should be given the detailed explanation of why such a change is going on and also be told about the advantages of it. The development of the future plan will help in the implementation of the system without any disruption. The preparations for the implementation of the plan will help in the process with the presence of the experts and the specialists that were available for this. RECOMMENDATIONS Taking into consideration the above analysis it can be said that in order to bring about a proper change management in the organisation it is required that the leadership should be proper and there should be a proper systematic flow of information from one point to another. Also there should not be any negative leaders which hamper the progress and instead there should be positive leaders which will help in the positive growth of the organisation. There needs to be more focus and attention should be given on the minute detail that is in the overall change management process. The selection of leaders in such an organisation will play a vital role in the overall process which will ensure the implementation of the change management process. Knowledge management will play a major role in the exchange of knowledge from the staff to the other workers and this will be taken care by the Training solutions network and solutions provider. The support of the senior management and the training provided in such a case is also very important and will lead to a better understanding between the other team members. Above all cadburys should be focussing on the following points that are mentioned below to tackle future changes and also the overall change mana

English Commentary – Maiden Voyage

The prescribed passage, Maiden Voyage from Denton Welch’s novel is rich in action and suspense. Several literary devices are employed by the author to create such an appealing effect. The first person narrative is introduced in the first line of this passage and is very important throughout the prose, especially when the protagonist encounters the decapitated head. The narrative style enhances the sensations of utter surprise and horror by describing the experience in a more personal viewpoint. Simple descriptions such as â€Å"I stared into its raw eye-sockets until waves of sickness spread over me. Then I ran’’ enhances the disgust of the scene for the reader, and such feelings can only by the protagonist, which is why first-person view-point is made very effective here. The setting plays a big role in this passage, especially in the lines leading up the climax point of discovering the head. Welch describes everything as being ‘’still and silent,’’ and along with the aid of the line ‘’ Harsh spears of grass stuck up through the sand. The soles of my shoes began to burn and I looked round vainly for some shady place. ’’ the reader begins to envision a serene but hot afternoon setting, although this slowly alters towards the eerie when it is revealed that the wind is the only sound. It gives the impression that as if the place is deserted. Mr Welch also spends considerable time describing the setting of the house that the protagonist was staying in before leaving to venture outside. There is sense of confinement as if the protagonist is trapped in the house and is being held back against his own will thus the word – ‘’imprisonment,’’ . The contents of the house is simple for example ‘’moth-eaten’’ worn out balls and the â€Å"old tennis racket† were the only objects lying in the hall for entertainment. The sombre setting as described by Mr Welch would allow the reader to understand the ardent desire of the protagonist to leave the villa and explore the surroundings. Welch’s usage of diction is also very successful in this passage. By describing the flies as with the simile ‘’buzzing like dynamos,’’ Welsh enhances the disgust the protagonist encountered at the scene. When the protagonist finally realises what the object that appeared to cat crouching in the middle of the road actually was, Welch describes the protagonist reaction as awaking (‘’my numbed senses suddenly awoke again’’), This gives the impression that she is shocked by how only then she realised what the object really was, hence the line â€Å"I stared into its raw eye-sockets until waves of sickness spread over me. Then I ran†. However, the words used to describe the decapitated head stand out the most in this passage, as they are well applied to convey repulsion. ’Shrivelled lips,’’ ‘’ coarse hairs growing out of its ears,’’ ‘’raw eye-sockets’’ as well as the simile ‘’old white teeth stood up like ninepins in the dark’’ all portray intense repulsion, to the extent of invoking nausea to the reader. The shock to the reader upon the revelation that t he object is a human head is heightened by the fact that the protagonist initially thought it was a cat lying in the middle of the road which to the actual object seems to be a contrasting and innocent suggestions. After seeing the head the protagonist decides to run for safety along the bare hills maybe he has realised the meaning of the line Mr Butler said earlier – ‘’Foreigners are not very popular here, so I don’t think you ought to go out alone. ’’ This would enhance the sense of peril towards the protagonist herself, thus making him suddenly fear for his life. The irony in the final passages is clearly evident. The protagonist wants nothing more than to return to the house (‘’my only idea was to get back to the house’’) however, not too long ago she was desperate to leave the house. There is suspense at the end of the passage as the protagonist still feels in harm’s way as he turns desperate in his attempt to find safety (â€Å"I began to feel desperate†). This is also emphasised by the short sentence ‘’I was wondering if I could climb up to it in any way. I knew that I could not. ’’ This passage is effectively portrayed by Denton Welch to entice the reader to immerse the reader into the story. The reader is provided with the means to do this by first-person narrative, ample descriptions to depict the scenario, as well as the usage of various literary tools.
